The Situation in Israel.

The medical condition of Ariel Sharon destabilizes the Middle East situation. His stroke and brain hemorrhage takes him out of the Prime Minister's office and he is now fighting to stay alive. Sharon was seeming to make progress toward peace by pulling out of the Gaza strip and building a wall to keep the Palestinian suicide bombers out of Israel. For the most part, this has worked. The suicide bombers making it through are few and far between. I think he made a big mistake in giving up the Gaza strip. The goal of the Palestinians is to push Israel into the Mediterranean Sea. They want every Jewish person dead. You cannot make peace with a terrorist nation. There is no other Arab nation that will take the Palestinians. They are trouble in whatever country they go. They had land granted to them by the UN partition plan in 1948 and they turned it down and declared war the next day on the nation of Israel. This began the modern conflict to this day.
I still believe the best man to be the Prime Minister of Israel is Benjamin Netanyahu.
He is a hardliner who will protect his nation from the terrorists and not make the mistake of giving land for peace as Sharon did. As a dispensationalist, that is one who believes God will ultimately spiritual restore most of ethnic Israel, the promises to Abraham still are in effect. I supported Israel even when I was as lost as a billygoat. This was because Israel was the only democracy in the Middle East and our partner against terrorism. Now as a Christian, I believe more than ever that the United States needs to protect Israel from its enemies. I pray for Sharon to recover but the prospects are grim. Netanyahu is poised and ready to take the position if the Israelites want him. I don't see anybody else that can stand up to the Palestinian threat without folding. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem (psalm 122:6a).
