Defending The Faith--Part One

Having discussed the bedrock epistemological base of the Christian faith found in Scripture, and that it is built into every person because we have been made in His image, I now turn to refuting the epistemology of the major false worldviews. This is possible through the Law of Noncontradiction. This law states that A cannot be non A at the same time and in the same relationship. 2Corinthians 10:4,5 says that the weapons of our warfare on not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of stongholds casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself over the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. We use the Law of Noncontradiction which is absolute and conceptual in nature. And it applies universally to changing events. It brings down the strongholds of the enemy myths and lies. An example of this is the Postmodern understanding of truth as relative. Since all truth is relative and there are no absolute truth, then the question to ask a person who embraces such a worldview is if they believe that statement is true, that there is no absolute truth. If they says yes, then they have refuted their own statement. That very statement then explodes because if it is true then the very statement made is not to be taken as Truth. They have made a self-referentially absurd statement. This also applies to the worldview of Skepticism that believes in no absolute Truth.
Modernism or Logical Positivism which states that something is true only if it is verified empirically destroys itself also. If only scientifically empiricaly verified statements are true then that very statement cannot be empirically verified since it is an epistemological statement and not subject to the five senses for testing, so is false. So you see, it is a statement that destroys itself. It would be like me saying. "Whatever I say is false." If whatever I say is false then that statement is also false and I tell the truth. It destroys itself. This sounds too easy to be true but it is. The reason is that we live in such and anti-intellectual world that is against reason and the mind. So naturally their worldview statements will be illogical and self-destructive. It cannot compete with the One system of Truth from Scripture. God has made us in His image and created a world with regularity and uniformity and order as part of it's nature. He created human beings in His own image with a moral, spiritual and intellectual capacity. Our minds have been created with a logical structure to understand and logically categorize the empirical information we take in from the universe that God Himself created. Any other system that refutes the four incontrovertible presuppositions of knowledge refutes itself in its epistemology because it undermines one or more of these bedrock presuppostions that make knowledge possible. All nonchristian worldviews deny the rational, moral and spiritual foundation of man so they misunderstand the true nature of our souls and the universe God has made(Romans 1:18-20.Professing themselves to be wise , they became fools(Romans 1:22). So we can bring down that irrational stronghold through demonstrating to them their own irrational beliefs using the Law of Noncontradiction and by speaking the Gospel Truth in Love, pray that the Sovereign Triune God would grant them repentance and faith.
