A Magnificent Start to 2006

This morning's worship service at First Baptist Orlando was powerful as Dr.David Uth gave a wonderful and inspiring sermon from Isaiah 43:18-25, God doing a new thing. He used a visual illustration I will never forget. He wrote on a large sheet several failures that a person may have during the past year, from divorce personal character sins and sinful habits. He then took the sheet, folded it up, and went over to a wooden cross and nailed the sheet to the cross. A vivid illustration of how Jesus took all of our sins on the cross and paid for them with His blood.
Sandi Patty was the guest vocalist and sang several wonderful hymns of the faith and at the 6:00pm evening service, she gave a two hour concert singing hymns, praise songs, southern gospel, and black spirituals. Her voice range was incredible as it ranged over three octaves on many of the songs. She also talked about her marriage failure,divorce and her new family and the Lord bringing her back through repentance and renewal. She has written her story in her new book,"Broken Hearted And On The Back Row". She communicated to the several thousand people in attendance in a warm, personal, and loving style. It was very evident that the Lord has done a powerful work in Sandi's life and she ministered to many people in attendance. Her singing, coupled with Pastor Uth's powerful message was a magnificent spiritual start to 2006.
